CAGALOG HAMAM

Cagaloglu Bath, which was built by Mahmut I in the 18th century, is located close to the Basilica Cistern. The purpose of the construction of the bath was to provide income to the Hagia Sophia Complex and the Hagia Sophia Library and served this purpose for a long time. The bath, drawn by Hassa architect Suleyman Aga, gains the admiration of those who see it with its different architecture.

The glass of the bath is covered by a large dome, and there are locker rooms on the consoles built around this glass. The hot and cold sections of this structure, which is a double bath, differ from the others. There are some privileges in architectural designs for women and men in Ottoman culture and this privilege has been considered within this structure. A door to the back street for women and a door to the street was made for men. The building, which has a history of almost 300 years, provided library and complex income as a source of income for many years. Today, it is one of the historical buildings that domestic and foreign tourists visit with great curiosity and enthusiasm. 3. The dressing rooms in the section built for men are covered with a large dome, through which a small dome passes through the cold section, which is covered by seven vaults.
